【摘要】:IntheUnitedStates,highsulfurcontentdistillateproductsanddieselfuelusedforoff-roadpurposes,otherthanaviationturbinefuel,arerequiredtocontainreddye.Asimilardyerequirementexistsfortax-freedistillates.Contaminationofaviationturbinefuelbysmallquantitiesofreddyehasoccurred.Suchcontaminationpresentsmajorproblemsbecauseairframeandenginemanufacturershaveseverelylimitedoperationonaviationturbinefuelcontainingreddye.Analternatemethodologyforthedeterminationofthepresenceofreddyeinaviationturbinefuelistheobservationofthecolorofthefuelwhenplacedinawhitebucket.ThepresenceofthedyecanbemaskedinaviationturbinefuelshavingdarkSayboltcolor.Thistestmethodprovidesanobjectivemeansofquicklymeasuringreddyeconcentration,buttoavoidconfusionwithtracelevelsofothermaterialswhichwillbeindicatedbytheinstrument,themethodrequiresthatinstrumentreadingsbelow0.026mg/LbereportedasNoDyePresent.Thecolorofthebasefuelismaskedbythepresenceofthereddye.Thistestmethodprovidesameansofestimatingthebasecolorofaviationturbinefuelandkerosineinthepresenceofreddye.1.1ThistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthereddyeconcentrationofaviationturbinefuelandkerosineandtheestimationoftheSayboltcolorofundyedandreddyed(x003C;0.750mg/LofSolventRed26equivalent)aviationturbinefuelandkerosine.ThetestmethodisappropriateforusewithaviationturbinefuelandkerosinedescribedinSpecificationsD1655andD3699.Reddyeconcentrationsaredeterminedatlevelsequivalentto0.026to0.750mg/LofSolventRed26insampleswithSayboltcolorsrangingfrom+30tox2013;16.TheSayboltcolorofthebasefuelforsamplesdyedredwithconcentrationlevelsequivalentto0.026to0.750mg/LofSolventRed26isestimatedintheSayboltColorrange+30tox2013;16.TheSayboltColorforundyedsamplesisestimatedintheSayboltcolorrangefrom+30tox2013;16.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
