【摘要】:Advancesintechnologyallowsmallerboardsizestoperformthefunctionalitythatafewyearsagorequiredalargerboard.Alternatively,theseadvancesallowincreasedfunctionalityonthesamesizedboards.Thus,VMEbusboardsandsystemdesignsaregreatlyincreasingincapability.Whereoncearadioroomhadsixseparatechassiscontainingoneradioeach,thatradioroomtodayhasonechassishousingsixradios.Thissizereductionhascreatedthedemandforhighlyreliableandeasilymaintainablesystems.TheTelecommunicationsandDefenseapplicationsrequireamorefaulttolerant,liveinsertableVMEbus.Currently,liveinsertionandextractionisnotsupportedbytheIEEE1014VMEbusstandard.TheVMEbusandFuturebus+ExtendedArchitecturesInternationalTradeAssociation(VITA)hasrespondedbyformingtheRecommendedPracticesGuidetoBoardLevelLiveInsertionfortheVMEbusWorkingGrouptoexaminesolutionsforaBoardLevelLiveInsertableVMEbus.ThisdocumentrecommendspracticestoimplementboardlevelliveinsertionwithexistingVMEbusboards.
